Brief Description:  Tail skid installation

Spent a few hours yesterday driving around looking for a piece of 3/4"x0.058 wall tubing to make the tail skid spacer, item L03-09. Drawing rev ONX-L03 dtd 2-28-12 added this item because the skid is 5/8" OD and the rev says the space between the brackets F22-07 L/R is 3/4".

I found some stock at Tractor Supply and cut a piece to the 1-1/2" length and reamed the ID to get the tail skid to slip inside after removing some of the tail skid powder coating. Went to fit it up to the tail assembly only to find the space between F22-07 L/R is actually 7/8" using the pre-fab parts. Went ahead and used the spacer by inserting an AN960-416 washer on each side of the skid for a snug fit between the -07 brackets. Primed the spacer and the remaining exposed bare metal portions of the tail skid. Finished it off with a top coat of satin plack paint.

A better choice for the spacer would probably be 7/8"x0.120 wall material. That might also leave a little slop to maintain the powder coat on the end of the tail skid.

Finished updrilling some remaining holes in the aft fuselage area.
